Charity Events

As an Academy we support a wide range of charities throughout the year and also support our pupils when they are taking part in fundraising activities.

We also sold toys on behalf of Wigan & Leigh Hospice in December and raised an amazing £810.25. Once again thank you everyone for your kindness and generousity.

In December, we held our annual collection of food to help the Brick in Wigan stock up their foodbank for Christmas. Once again, we were delighted with the response from our families, who managed to fill two vans with their kind donations. Thanks everyone!

The whole school took part in a very special Scarecrow Festival in October. Each year group created their own tableaux, we held a cake sale and a colouring competition and even had a parade of wooden spoon scarecrows. We were delighted to raise £1020.30 to support the work of Wigan and Leigh Hospice. Thank you to everyone who supported our festival.

Amelia, Esme, Ruby, Annika, Courtney and Jessica got a very special surprise from the Dogs Trust to recognise the £87.76 they had raised at their bake sale. They loved their bookmarks and certificates - thank you to the Dog's Trust and thank you to everyone who bought (and ate!) a cake!

Six of our Year 6 girls started 2018 with a bake sale to fundraise for The Dog's Trust and The Alzheimer's Society. They raised over £167 which has been split between the two charities. Well done.

So far this year we have supported fundraising for a wide variety of charities. We once again held a food collection for The Brick to help them stock their shelves for Christmas.

We supported the fundraising of Wigan Hospice by selling their Christmas toys, sold poppies to support the British Legion and collected over 800 shoeboxes on behalf of Samaritan's Purse.

Staff members wore purple and collected funds to support Crohn's Disease.

We had a visit from the Pearl of Africa Children's Choir and helped them raise over £1700 to support their friends to be homed and schooled in Uganda. Click here to learn more.

Katy from Year 6, who is a member of the Christian Ethos Team, wrote a very special letter to the school thanking them for their support with our collection for The Brick.

November 29th was a very busy day as we also had Dan from the Brick Project Click the image below to read all about it and see our images.

On November 29th, Dallas came to collect all of the shoeboxes donated for Operation Christmas Child. Click the image below to read about what we did and see our images.

The lovely Christmas Hospice toys arrived in school and were snapped up very quickly! Click the image below to see more of what we did.

October 2016

We celebrated the hard work and support of our Rector Andrew in October as part of St Luke’s Healthcare ‘Thank Your Vicar Week’. St Luke’s supports the physical and mental health of the Anglican clergy and their families during difficult times.

Read more about the charity here.

To support the work of the charity we held a ‘coin trail’ in school. Everyone bought in gold or silver coins and we built two coin trails in our libraries. Click the image below to see our pics from the day.

We also held a special ‘This is your life’ assembly planned by Miss Clayton and Mrs Cunliffe, who worked very hard to show Rector Andrew how much the school appreciates him. Children from Year 6 created special pictures in their computing lessons, artwork and prayers to present to Rector Andrew.

A big thank you to everyone who supported our collection for St Lukes.
