Mrs Cunliffe's very long run!
We are all extremely proud of Year 6 teacher, Mrs Cunliffe, who ran her very first marathon last weekend in London.
Husband Shaun, a teacher at St Peter's High School, entered Mrs Cunliffe in the London Marathon ballot and they were both delighted when she gained a place. Mr Cunliffe was one of the Wigan & Leigh Hospice runners, so they decided to fundraise together on behalf of the Hospice.
Despite some nerves the day before, Mrs Cunliffe ran a great race finishing in 4 hours and 23 minutes. She had trained for many months with the Wigan & District Harriers and as a member of the Downhill Runners.
Together, Mr and Mrs Cunliffe have so far raised over £3000 to support the vital work the Hospice do for the people of Wigan & Leigh.
"The atmosphere was amazing. I pushed myself to do it - if I'm only going to do one marathon, then the London Marathon was definitely the one to do. The support I received from the crowd and my family and friends really spurred me on and I was very happy to finish in such a good time."
