World Book Day 2020

Lesson: English

World Book Day is one of our favourite and most colourful days of the year!

As vocabulary is fundamental in our ‘Literacy-rich curriculum’, we  decided to celebrate ‘vocabulary’, by asking children to dress up as a word or adjective during World Book Day. For example, elegant, energetic, sleepy, intelligent, ancient, fierce, ridiculous, mischievous etc.

Children were encouraged to be imaginative and use higher level language and vocabulary, that was age-appropriate with their chosen word displayed somewhere on their costume.

There were  prizes for the most imaginative costumes and we took part in a vocabulary parade!

Mrs Mullen created a 'cave' for KS1 to visit. Each class in KS1 received a copy of the book 'The Cave' by Rob Hodgson to read and keep and every child in Reception received their own copy to take home!

Mrs Mullen and Mrs Prentki enjoyed photographing all the wonderful costumes!

We would love to hear from you
